Pakistan Tour of Scotland, 2018

Scotland vs Pakistan 1st ODI

After drawing level for two successive times in 2016 (2-2), 2018 (1-1) against England in their backyard in red ball cricket the Pakistani side will end their England and Wales tour with a 3 match T20 series against Scotland.

The first of the two-match T20 series is scheduled to be played at the Grange Cricket Club in Edinburgh on 12th June 2018.

Banking on Calum MacLeod’s swashbuckling unbeaten 140 off 94 balls where the crowd witnessed one of the best batting arrays by Scotland till date helped the home side to register an emphatic win over England by 6 runs. English Lions kept hitting hard back to the Scottish bowlers with Jonny Bairstow’s fierce knock of 105 runs of just 59 balls which included 12 fours and 6 towering sixes but eventually, all went in vain for the visitors.

Pakistan are enjoying their number one T2o status after playing some exceptional cricket in the shortest format. They have got a series win against New Zealand (2-1) in New Zealand and a home series win against West Indies where they clean swept the visitors 3-0.

With the likes of Ahmed Shehzad, Hasan Ali and the newbie Shaheen Afridi, Pakistan definitely looks strong on paper.

The Netherlands have named two different sides, one for Ireland and the other one for Scotland. Both the teams are almost identical and will be led by Pieter Seelaar with the bowling all-rounder Max ODowd making it to the side for the match against Scotland only.

Ireland will start their new voyage against a new leader in Gary Wilson. This will be the first time when Gary Wilson will be handling the captaincy as the former skipper after William Porterfield stepped down from his role after almost leading the Irish side for 5 years in the shortest format of the game.

South Africa Women Tour of England, 2018 (ICC Championship)

England Women vs South Africa Women 2nd ODI

After a humiliating defeat against the visiting South African women team, England would be reeling with their confidence below par. They were expected to win this encounter and start well in the series, but fortune was not favoring the home side.

Led by a prolific knock by wicket-keeper batswomen Lizelle Lee’s unbeaten 92, the visitors found themselves in the driving seat chasing a paltry score of 189 posted by the home side. Dane van Niekerk’s 58 came in handy, and they comfortably chased down the total with 7 wickets in hand.

England will undoubtedly have a lot to think about they did not performed collectively in the previous game which led to their downfall. The only highlight for them from the last game was Katherine Brunt’s unbeaten 72 off 98 deliveries which comprised 8 fours.

Now for the second ODI, the two teams will take the field at County Ground in Hove, to stay alive in the series, the home team has to win this encounter.
