The Big Picture
So, it is finally here! After much anticipation, India will finally kickstart their two and a half month tour of England with a two-match T20 series against Ireland. India will tour Ireland after a hiatus of 11 years (Last played in 2007), with both teams taking on each other in only the second T20 fixture, with the last one being played way back in the 2009 edition of the World T20.
The series against Ireland will serve as an ideal dress rehearsal for the Men in Blue, who will field their full strength side since their 2-1 win over the Proteas back in January. Thier opponents in Ireland are coming off a tough tri-nation series (Netherlands Tri-nation series) which saw them won just a solitary game, and crash out of the tournament, having failed to qualify for the finals. The 2-match T20 series offers the hosts a chance to put a string of good performances against the No.3 ranked team in the World.
Where:- The Village, Malahide, Dublin
When:- Wednesday, June 27th, 2018, 08:30 PM IST
The wicket at the Village normally has a fine covering of grass, and initially assists the fast bowlers before settling down into a belter of a pitch. The average first innings score in six T20 matches is 125 while it increases to 126 while chasing. A clear indication that chasing is comparatively easy on the ground can be testified from the fact that teams batting first have won just one game while chasing teams have managed to overhaul the target five times.
