England vs India, 3rd ODI | ENG vs IND WHO WILL WIN

The Big Picture

England came back valiantly in the second ODI at Lord’s to set up a pulsating finale at Headingly with the series now locked at 1-1.

The Hosts

It was a professional performance by the hosts after receiving an absolute shellacking at Trent Bridge. Eoin Morgan won the toss and decided to bat first and when Kuldeep Yadav accounted for Jonny Bairstow in his very first over, it looked as if the story would go the same route as Trent Bridge. But England’s Test captain, Joe Root stood tall to hold the innings together and compiled his 12th hundred. England would not have been able to achieve the target that they did; if not for David Willey’s 31-ball-50 at the death.

Where-  Headingly, Leeds

When: Tuesday, July 17, 2018, 05:00 PM IST

The Visitors

Chasing 323, India got off to a steady start with Rohit and Dhawan accumulating 49 for the first wicket before Sharma played a wild heave across the line to gift his wicket to Wood. Sharma’s wicket was followed by Dhawan and Rahul to leave the Men in Blue reeling at 3-64. Skipper Kohli and Raina accumulated 80 runs for the fourth wicket but it was the duo’s inability to score boundaries during the middle-overs allowing the likes of Ali and Rashid to settle down. Kohli was accounted LBW by Ali for 45 and Rashid bowled Raina to leave India reeling at 5-154 in 31.1 overs.

With MS Dhoni and Pandya still at the crease, India still had an outside chance of making a game out of it. But Dhoni played a strangely slow inning (37 off 59 balls) much to the disappointment of a capacity crowd at Lord’s as India finally ended with 236 in 50 overs. So, who will win ENG vs IND?
