Royal London ODI Cup, 2018

England vs Australia, 4th ODI, 2018

The Big picture:-

After succumbing to their heaviest defeat (by 242 runs) in the third ODI, and their fourth consecutive bilateral ODI series loss, twice against England in the past six months, a battered Australian side will look to salvage lost pride when they take on the No.1 ranked side at Chester-le-Street on Thursday.

Nothing went right for the Aussies after Tim Paine won the toss and decided to BOWL under cloudy Nottingham skies. For the next 3.5 hours, he would watch his bowlers get smashed to all corners of Trent Bridge, as England, on the back of hundreds from Jonny Bairstow (139, his sixth in last 18 ODIs), Alex Hales (147 off 92 balls), along with  half-centuries from Roy (82) and skipper Eoin Morgan, overhauled their own record of the highest ODI total (Previously:- 3-444 vs Pakistan, 2016) to post a barely believable 6-481 in 50 overs.

Chasing an improbable 482, similar problems surfaced for Australia. D’Archy Short troubled start to his ODI career hit a new roadblock as he scrambled to a 12-ball-15, middle-over struggles with the likes of Marsh (24), Stoinis (44) unable to cash-in on the starts and Aaron Finch, who has scored 10 hundred as an opener, failing again while batting at No.5 were the cornerstone in Australia’s yet another lacklustre performance, as they were eventually bowled out for 239.

Both teams, now travel to Durham, and Eoin Morgan’s side would be looking to aggravate Australia’s misery and rack up another complete performance as they aim for a series whitewash. So, who will win ENG vs AUS, let us delve into the betting odds as part of our ENG vs AUS Today Match Prediction?
