Being touted as the biggest-ever tournament series to be hosted by India, World Poker Tour (WPT) is all set to begin the second edition of its poker extravaganza from 13 November 2018 to 19 November 2018. The WPT India will be offering eight events with a buy-in ranging from 20,000 to 1 Lakh. The Main Event offers a prize money of INR 55,000 which will run from 16 November to November 19.
The first edition of World Poker Tour was hosted last year from November 7 to November 13 which garnered 1400 entries with an impressive battlefield of 527 entries in the Main Event. Vikas Mantri eventually won the Main Event and won 60.30 Lakhs in poker. Other eminent wins included the names of Rajnish Kumar who won the High Roller for INR 36.38 Lakhs and Sundeep Tulsyan who won Superstack NLH for INR 19 Lakhs.
The huge success of the WPT was unparalleled and the only poker event that managed to pull out a close success was the 35K Main Event at the Deltin Poker Tournament (DPT) July edition which attracted 457 entries and Awnish Singh emerged victorious in that event which fetched him a prize money of INR 35 Lakhs.
Expressing his high hopes from the tournament, Business Head of Poker at Deltin Royale Manish Adnani said, “We are excited about the second edition of WPT India. We are expecting the field size to be marginally bigger this year with an increase of more than 20 per cent.”
Talking about the management at Deltin Royale, Adnani said,” We have dedicated one whole to this tournament and the allocated cash games will be on another level, which will ensure that the tournaments will not be interrupted in case more cash games are played.”
