The newly launched venture by Raj Kundra owned Viaan Industries, and International Federation of Poker (IFP) promoted, Match Indian Poker League takes a back seat for October, bringing down the excitement for the Indian poker enthusiasts.
An announcement came that the league as earlier scheduled to be held on the 14th and 15th of October, to spice up the Diwali festival has been rescheduled. The event promoted by Raj Kundra which was set for its inaugural league will not take place next month.
The decision came after the owners of the eight teams, who met in a meeting in Mumbai, felt there was insufficient time to promote their individual franchisees and earn revenues from the tournament. The two-day tournament is now slated for 17th and 18th November at the Playboy Club in Mumbai.
To encourage the women participation in the game of poker, the team owners also took a resolution of reserving a spot for a female player in every team.
Kundra, while giving out important information on his twitter; about the change in dates and a mandatory inclusion of a female player also wrote on his twitter: “Thank you dear team owners appreciate your suggestions and involvement. Looking forward to a grand event in November.”
Entertainment channel, MTV will broadcast the poker event, which comes with a total prize money of 3 crore rupees.
