Raj Kundra and Shilpa Shetty announce Match Indian Poker League Season 2

Raj Kundra and Shilpa Shetty Kundra are all set to launch the second season of the Match Indian Poker League (Match IPL) on 31 March 2018. Kundra owned Viaan Industries, a licensing, entertainment and wellness company would be returning with the second edition of the IPL where ten teams would be competing against each other in the tournament.

In the inaugural season, seven teams competed with each other to claim the prize pool of 2.5 crores. This time, there are three more franchise, and the winner would get a chance to represent Team India at the Match Poker Asian Nations Cup, scheduled to be held later this year.

Ten Teams of Match IPL2

The ten teams who would fight for the title are:

Ahmedabad Hearts, Bangalore Royals, Delhi Aces, Goa Lions, Haryana Hawks, Jaipur Jewels, Kolkata Diamonds, Mumbai All-Stars, Pune Kings and UP Indians. The first prize winner would get Rs. 40,000, the second position holder would get Rs. 25,00,000 and 3rd Place and 4th placeholder would get Rs. 20,00,000  and Rs. 15,00,000 respectively.

Raj-Shilpa on Poker in India:

Raj Kundra, Chairman and MD of Viaan Industries said, “The game of Online Poker is gaining acceptance. People have started to accept it as a game of skill.”

“India is among the fastest growing online poker markets in Asia. With the industry size at $120 mn already, the industry is estimated to have grown by high double digits over the last few years,” he added.

Shilpa Shetty, “Shane Warne introduced me to the game of poker. He was a poker pro, and he taught me how to play. People love to play poker over teen Patti, especially in Diwali.”

She also said, “It’s one of the highest individual paying sports in the USA, and it’s spreading like wildfire in India as well. I am proud of what Raj has created with the Match Poker League.”

Raj and Shilpa-owned IPL team, Rajasthan Royals were suspended from the Indian Premier League for two years, but it didn’t stop Kundra from experimenting with sports, and he donned a new hat where he brought poker enthusiasts from the whole country under one umbrella.
