Raj Kundra chaired Viaan Industries Limited and Switzerland-based International Federation of Match Poker (IFMP) hosted the third edition of the Match IPL (Indian Poker League) tournament in Mumbai on 23rd and 24th October.
The two-day event witnessed a glamorous opening ceremony where stars like Karishma Tanna, Sanjeeda Sheikh and Shamita Shetty. R Madhavan also made a guest appearance in the event. Nine city-based teams competed against one another in the Match IPL where the event offered a prize pool of Rs. 3.40 crores.
It took nine sessions for the Pune Kings to emerge victorious after defeating Mumbai All-Stars for emerging victorious in the end. The winning team was led by poker pro-Gaurav Gala and players like Tanmay Bagga, Suchi Chamaria, Akash Shekhar, Rubin Labroo and Akshay Nasa received prize money of Rs 90 Lakhs.
The Mumbai All stars who finished as the runner-ups of the third season received 90 Lakhs while Bangalore Royals finished on third place and took home a prize money of Rs. 65 Lakhs. The fourth-place holders Delhi Aces received s prize money of Rs. 50 Lakhs. The ‘Player of the League Award’ was won by Jaipur Royals’ poker pro-Eka Vedantham for his outstanding performance in the event.
The Pune Kings will now be representing India at the Nation Cup organized by the International Federation of Match Poker (IFMP) in Ireland scheduled to be held in February next year.
Harman Baweja-led Mumbai All-Stars won the first edition of the Match IPL while PokerBaazi sponsored Haryana Hawks won the second edition of the event that was held earlier this year.
