The Asian Poker Tour (APT) is going on in full swing in Vietnam Ho Chi Minh Main Event VND 6 Billion GTD Championship currently underway.
The event attracted a record participation of 499 players as it collected a whopping VND 9.68 Billion in prize money.
As Indian contingent is all set to return from the WSOP (World Series of Poker), several Indians including Sumit Patra, Devesh Thapar and Ravi Priya were seen in the Main Event which is being hosted at Pro Poker Club.
53 players have proceeded for Day 3 of the event, final of which will be played later today.
All eyes will be on Indian young gun Devesh Thapar who will return to the felts with the third largest stack worth 547,000.
Thapar had won the second edition of PokerBaazi’s flagship online MTT tournament, ‘The MoneyMaker’ 1 crore GTD event and he is very much in the race for claiming the top prize of VND 1.63 Billion at the Asian Poker Tour Vietnam HCM Main Event Championship.
The championship witnessed three starting flights. While the Day 1A saw 100 entries, only 37 could survive for Day 2 with Dan Xuan Canh (193,000) finishing with the top stack.
118 players participated in the Day 1B flight and after having 29 re-entries the number reached to 147.
60 players bagged the chips for Day 2 and Malaysian player Choong Kian Weng (172,000) claimed the biggest stack.
Sumit Patra with chips stack worth 93,000 and Ravi Priya with (45,000) survived Day 1B with Devesh Thapar (105,100) who was one of the top ten players among the 107 survivors from the Day 1C flight.
Korean player Kang Suuk Hyun (190,900) bagged the second largest stack of Day 1A following Canh.
As 203 players began the play on Day 2, Thapar (547,000) proceeded to Day 3 with 52 others, while Sapra and Priya hit the rail during the course of the play.
Day 3 of the Championship will begin at blinds of 3,000-6,000 with an ante of 1,000.
