Muskan Sethi is one of the luminaries of poker in India who is looked up by many aspiring poker players. Muskan Sethi has represented her country at the highest level and she is a vocal advocate of poker as a game of skill.
Last year, in October Muskan Sethi, participated in an educative session on skill games for judicial service members. Gaming industry body All India Gaming Federation (AIGF) indulged in an interactive session on ‘Internet, Technology and New Age Games’ at a conference hosted by Delhi Judicial Academy (DJA) at the National Law University where court judges and prosecutors from Delhi discussed the Law Commission of India’s recommendations on the desirability of regulating sports wagering and gaming.
They also discussed the legal position of skill games like poker. Talking in an interview given to Gambling India Info, Muskan Sethi said,
“We had to put our points to the table in front of the prosecutors and judges, and their opinions were completely divided over the issue. While some were of the opinion that Poker is completely a gamble, some were convinced that it involved some skill as well. They were shocked when I told them that I had a coach.”
“And it took me a lot of convincing to make them believe that it involved a lot of skill just like every other sport.” She also talked about the Global Poker League. People qualified for the tournament through Poker Stars India and every team had their own qualifying team. People chose their sides and the tournament ended on a high.
Talking about the fraudulent websites who lure people for money, Muskan Sethi said it is very necessary for the Indian government to take things in their hands so that such nefarious elements can be dealt with and she also added that it was very important for people to be aware of the facts. She vouched for sites which fall under the purview of AIGF.
Muskan Sethi also expressed her optimism about the game and said that the game has a long way to go in India
