Indian young gun Abhinav Iyer leads the chips count in the GTD Main Event at the 2019 Asian Poker Tour (APT) Vietnam. Only eight players are left in the final table and Abhinav Iyer leads with 4,825,000 in chips. Iyer, a resident of Mumbai entered the arena on Day 1B and he made a cut in Day 2 with 107,700.
He held his nerves till the third day and collected a 0272,500 stack at the end of Day 2. He kept on moving on and finally on Day 3, he emerged as the leader after 8 hours of play after eliminating notable players Phan Dinh Nam and Duy Ho.
Interestingly, six Indian players progressed to Day 3. Eka Vedanthan finished on 45th position with INR 1.68 lakhs, Dhaval Mudgal finished 49th for 1.40 lakhs while Meherzad Munsaf finished 58th for INR 1.16 lakhs. Other Indian players Vinod Meglamani and Jason Pereira returned without any prize money.
77 players entered the action of Day 3. Six Indian players made their way in the 3rd day but it was Abhinav Iyer who kept the hopes for APT Vietnam Main Event alive. He outplayed Dang Dinh Hoang but succumbed to Do Hung Son. Nevertheless, his efforts didn’t go in vain as he made an instant comeback against Phan Dinh Nam and made him hit the rail. Phan Dinh Nam finished on 37th place for VND 54,972,000. Iyer also outplayed Sim Ko Wao and went on to eliminate the chip leader of Day 2. Duy Ho before the final break of Day 3.
Abhinav Iyer bagged the biggest-stack of the day and he will be starting the final day as the clear chip leader with a stack of 4,825,000, which is over twice the number of chips as his closest rival Mai Te who will start the final table with 2,105,000. Daiki Hirokawa is currently on the third spot with 1,740,000 stacks while Ming Yang Liu has 1,625,000. Huu Tuan Nguyen, Mark Gruendemann, Sim Kok Wai and Hak Do Kim hold the fifth position, sixth position, seventh position and eighth position respectively.
