Minister of State for Finance, Arjun Ram Meghwal Dismisses Cryptocurrency Legalisation Policy

Arjun Ram Meghwal, Minister of State for Finance, announced on Saturday that there are no plans or policy measures to legalise the introduction of crypto currency for security and commodity related transactions, anytime soon. Meghwal further announced of a committee which is set up to study the pros and cons on the subject.

Meghwal said the majority of the public view is negative on the introduction of cryptocurrency in capital and commodities market, during the annual convention organised by PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry on “Capital Market-Vision 2020”. The minister further added, “Even the Parliament is flooded with questions on the issue.”

Meghwal also said Japan is the only country which holds cryptocurrency in such a high value. According to him, the Finance Ministry set up the committee on the issue to understand the results.
