Four crew members get injured as the Casino Vessel owns by former Haryana minister gets stuck. It is an incident of Aguada Sandbar off the Miramar Coast, near Panaji. One of the crew members was severely injured while three others were suffering from sea sickness. The management had carefully rescued them. MV Lucky 7, the ship, was brought from Mormugao harbour to Mandovi River in Panaji.
The ship was supposed to be anchored properly. “We received a call last night to rescue the crew members who were in distress,” expressed Manoj Badkar, Deputy Inspector General of Indian Coast Guard. A Coast Guard helicopter pushed into action and found the injured members. It explored 15 more crew members including the vessel’s master. But the Coast Management had not received any instruction to rescue those members.
Aanand Madgaonkar, an expert salvager, told that the vessel owner could have waited till September when the sandbar is opened for traffic. He thinks that the tide will be favourable in this evening. So, the owner (Mr Gopal Kanda) should try to salvage the vessel. It will essentially affect the Miramar beach if not removed from the sandbar.
