Pakistan v New Zealand in UAE, 2018
Pakistan vs New Zealand, 3rd ODI
The three match ODI series stands balanced as both the Kiwis and the Pakistanis have won one match each. This one day series has to be won by the Kiwis to shut down their critics after they miserably failed to perform in the 3 match Twenty20 series.
Pakistan after winning the 2nd ODI would come into this game looking to win this series but things would not be that easy since the Kiwis put up a great display in the first ODI and can be counted to do the same in the final game of the series as well. Things didn’t pan out exactly as the Kiwis would have thought in the 2nd ODI when they won the toss and opted to bat first. Except for Ross Taylor’s 86 and Henry Nicholls’ 33, no other batter could score 30 or more runs. All eyes were on the skipper Kane Williamson who was unfortunate to be run out. In 50 over, the Kiwis managed to put up a score 0f 209 runs.
In response, the hosts came to bat and looked rock solid from the start. With their opener Fakhar Zaman scoring 88 runs and Babar Azam’s 46 runs in the first down set the stage for the host to register a win and balance the ODI series. Pakistan won the game by 6 wickets with more than 9 over to spare. Shaheen Afridi was the keybowler for the hosts as he managed to claim 4 wickets and topple the Kiwi batting lineup.
