“Do not write them off”, Manchester City must have now got this by hearted from all parts of their city as they get set to welcome neighbours from the other side of the road, Manchester United, for Premier League’s first of two Manchester Derbies this season.
Demolishing opponents one after the other, Pep Guardiola’s men now stand against their club’s biggest rivals, and probably this season’s trickiest opponents, Manchester United. A similarly dominant Manchester City were left shell shocked when the sides last met as United went on to win 3-2 after being 2-0 down and pretty much no match for City. With the kind of form Jose Mourinho and his men are putting on show, Pep Guardiola must have prepared his tactics ready for this one. Dropping points tomorrow will mean Manchester City handing others a chance to join them at the top of points table.
After a lifeless start to their season, Jose Mourinho and his men are showing signs of life again and are upbeat after their won over Juventus in the Champions League this week. The players whom Mourinho was reluctant to even include in the side, are now his tu
rn to men. Speculations of Mourinho leaving Manchester United were high flying but it all settled, as if once and for all, with United’s sensational come from behind win against Newcastle United. Mourinho will a lot more to think about though, as a win will see his side move into the top 6. For that, he’ll know United won’t be able to rely on their come from behind heroics. Mourinho will have to set up the perfect 90-minute plan and his players will to execute it if they are to end their woeful run of results at the Etihad Stadium.

De Gea; Young, Smalling, Lindelof, Shaw; Matic, Pogba, Herrera, Mata, Lukaku, Martial
In absence of Kevin De Bruyne, City were in need of someone to step up and deliver. Like every other season, it has been this man, Sergio Aguero, acting the wrecker-in-chief from City’s side. Keeping a check on him will be the toughest ask for Lindelof and Smalling tomorrow.
Handing United the “Comeback Kings” title, Anthony Martial has become Jose Mourinho’s main man and will be the one most likely to put the ball behind the net for United. With John Stones inconsistency in City’s defence, Martial will definitely fancy his chances right from the word go.
No matter what form these two sides are in, Derby is all about the moment and nothing else. More of a hope than prediction, we expect the final scoreline to read Manchester City 2-3 Manchester United.
