After a maiden 25-run win over Bangladesh, Sri Lanka will face off table-topper Windies in their last group encounter on Saturday in contention for a semi-final birth. With three points in three games, Sri Lanka is sitting at third position with hopes still alive.

Windies Women are sitting at top of the table with two wins in two games. They would be eyeing to make it three-in-a-row and secure a place in semi-finals. After giving 108 runs target to South Africa, Windies bowled out them for mere 76 runs to register 31 runs win. Skipper Stafanie Taylor was the pick of the bowler with 4 wickets in the bag.

Must-win game for Sri Lanka

Placed third, Sri Lanka knocked out Asia Champions -Bangladesh out of the contest after registering the 25-run win over them in the last encounter. This was Sri Lanka’s maiden win in the tournament which helped the side stay alive in the tournament.

Shashikala Siriwardene was the player of the match for her all-around performance with both bat and ball. Sri Lanka all-rounder contributed much crucial 31 runs off 33 balls to help the side reach 97-7 and then bowled an economical spell of 4 overs giving away just 10 runs and bagging two wickets.

Sri Lanka now needs to win their last game against Windies and will have to rely upon England Women and a lot of luck to advance to semi-finals. England Women have played two games in which the first against Sri Lanka got washed away while they registered 7 wickets win over Bangladesh under the DLS method.
