India’s 50- over domestic tournament Vijay Hazare Trophy 2019-20 kick started on Tuesday will run through October 25 with a total of thirty eight states competing for the top spot. The tournament will be played across four cities – Bangalore, Baroda, Jaipur and Dehradun. The first three cities will host the Elite matches while Dehradun is set to hosts the Plate games. Having defeated Delhi in the last year’s final at Bangalore, Mumbai are the defending champions.
Placed in Elite Group B, Baroda will play under the leadership of a new skipper in Krunal Pandya. In the previous season, they failed to pass through the group stage and will be looking for a much better campaign this year. Their opening fixture against Odisha on Tuesday got abandoned due to wet outfield and would be desperate for a full game against Uttar Pradesh. Baroda will play all their games in Reliance Stadium, Vadodara.
2004-05 title winner Uttar Pradesh will kick off their campaign tomorrow in Vadodara. They will be missing out regular skipper Suresh Raina due to the knee surgery and will be led by a new skipper in Samarth Singh. They have been bolstered with the return of all-rounder Rinku Singh who faced a three months suspension from BCCI after feature in an unauthorized T20 league in Abu Dhabi.
