Zimbabwe tour of South Africa, 2018
South Africa vs Zimbabwe, 3rd T20I | SA vs ZIM Dream11 WHO WILL WIN
The Big Picture
After having already lost the T20 series, Zimbabwe will look to cap off what has been a disastrous tour for them with a solitary win when they take on the Proteas on Sunday.
South Africa will look to aim a tour whitewash at Benoni when they take on Zimbabwe on Sunday.
The experimentations that the Proteas were conducting this series to provide an opportunity to their bench can be launched into the fifth gear in the dead rubber clash on Sunday, and given the way the Zimbabweans are at the moment, it might not in any way affect the eventual outcome of the game.
After resting Tahir for the remainder of the series, South Africa blooded in rookie pacers in Dane Patterson and Robbie Frylinck, while promoting Rassie van der Dussen to the top of the order after his strong showing in the first game.
Both Paterson (2-22) and Frylinck (2-20) impressed as they nipped out Zimbabwe’s top-5 to restrict the tourists’ to an underwhelming 7-132 and it would not be a bad idea if South Africa aim for more experimentation at Benoni.
After losing the ODI series 0-3, the Zimbabweans are staring down the barrel at yet another series whitewash after they squandered yet another opportunity to put up an improved performance in the second T20.
Tahir or No Tahir, Zimbabwe’s inability to stitch steady partnerships has been at the heart of their woes throughout the series. Batting first in the previous match, their two most experienced players in skipper Masakadza (21) and Brandon Taylor (29) failed to convert their starts into a substantial score yet again and if it were not for Sean Williams’ 28-ball-41, the total of 7-132 would have been much less.
The bowling unit too, barring the first two ODIs has lacked potency to challenge the Proteas and after such a one-sided affair in nearly every match, all they can hope to script an odd upset.
