Indian Premier League, 2019 | Royal Challengers Bangalore vs Kolkata Knight Riders, 17th Match | RCB vs KKR Who Will Win
The tournament is coming close to the end of its second week, and it is time for the 17th match to take place which will be contested between the two-time champions Kolkata Knight Riders and Royal Challengers Bangalore who are still searching their first win of the season.
Royal Challengers Bangalore
As the tournament is progressing, things are getting bad to worse for RCB. After featuring in 4 matches, they are still eyeing their first win of the season. Nothing is going their way and the skipper is livid with his team and his individual performance as well.
None of their players have stepped up to the occasion and regular failures have put them into shallows. Their struggles in the batting order are clearly visible as barring Parthiv Patel and Ab de Villiers none of the batsmen have been able to score a half-century.
Their overseas picks Shimron Hetmyer and Moeen Ali have looked rusty and they might be under scrutiny for this game. They dropped Colin de Grandhomme and brought in Marcus Stoinis in the last game but he too wasn’t looking at his best with both bat and ball.
In the bowling department, the only positive for RCB has been Yuzvendra Chahal who has scalped 8 wickets and is the current Purple Cap holder. The pace duo of Umesh Yadav and Mohammad Siraj have been leaking runs which is definitely not the way to go.
All in all, it has been a nothing show so far from Royal Challengers Bangalore and one more defeat here will jeopardize their quest to finish among the top four.
Kolkata Knight Riders
The Knight Riders will be coming after a good 5 days lay-off. They last played against Delhi Capitals at the Feroz Shah Kotla which ended in favor of the home side after a thrilling super-over.
That was the only loss KKR have faced so far after winning their opening two games quite comprehensively against Sunrisers Hyderabad by 6 wickets and against Kings XI Punjab by 28 runs.
Amidst the news of a heartbreaking loss against Delhi Capitals in their last game, the fans will be thrilled to know that the big man ‘Dre Russ’ was seen practicing at the Chinnaswamy along with Sunil Narine who missed the last match due to injury.
Their preparations look solid and are raring to get going. It won’t be an easy task for RCB to stop the juggernaut of KKR who are definitely looking a team to beat this season so far.
Interesting fact
RCB are yet to defeat KKR from the last two seasons i.e, 2017 and 2018 editions. RCB last win over KKr came in the year 2016 at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata by 9 wickets.
Total Played: 23
RCB Won- 14
KKR Won- 09
For years, Chinnaswamy has been a happy hunting ground for batsmen as scoring runs have been relatively easy as compared to other surfaces. The pitch sometimes assists the slow bowlers and that could well be the case here.

Players to watch out from RCB:
RCB are tempted to make many changes in their eleven after failing to register a single win from 4 games. Therefore, it is tough to choose which player will feature in the starting eleven, but still, guys like Virat Kohli, Parthiv Patel, Ab de Villiers and Yuzvendra Chahal are the obvious choices in the RCB unit.
Players to watch out from KKR:
KKR are looking amazing after 3 good games. Andre Russell is delivering with both bat and ball which has definitely made things relatively easy for KKR. Robbie Uthappa scored a fifty in the game against KXIP and skipper Dinesh Karthik who got a 50 against DC in the last game are other prudent choices.
Sunil Narine will be the one to watch out in the all-rounders department while Kuldeep Yadav, Piyush Chawla and Lockie Ferguson who have been among wickets will once again comprise the bowling unit.
