Pakistan have reached the last leg of their itinerary and now they will be taking on South Africa for a three-match T20I series slated to begin from 1 February 2019. Although the visitors have already lost the Test series by 3-0 and the ODI series by 3-2, they have a chance to redeem themselves in the shortest format where they reign supreme.
Pakistan missed the ODI series by a whisker and they will come out all guns blazing when they take on the Proteas for the first T20I in Newlands, Cape Town. Pakistan have triumphed in 11 T20 series on the trot where their last defeat in a bilateral T20 series in January 2016 against New Zealand. The side boasts of a strong batting order and a lethal bowling attack. On one hand, where Fakhar Zaman and Babar Azam provide strength to their opening order, Mohammed Hafeez and stand-in skipper Shoaib Malik bring experience to the squad. The power-packed bowling attack of Mohammad Amir, Shaheen Afridi and Hafeez can rip apart the batting order of any side in the shortest format.
Pakistan will miss the services of their regular skipper Sarfraz Khan who has been banned for four matches for breaching ICC’s anti-racism code and they have recalled Mohammed Amir for the upcoming T20I series.
South Africa, on the other hand, have called 20-year old fast bowler. Lutho Sipamla in their squad. South Africa will look forward to carrying forward their winning momentum in the upcoming series. If Pakistan boasts of a balanced side, South Africa also doesn’t lag behind. In the ODIs, Quinton de Kock, Rassie van der Dussen and Faf du Plessis showed some fireworks with the bat and Proteas would aim to continue their form. Andile Phehlukwayo picked eight scalps in five games and he will be a force to reckon in the upcoming series as well alongwith Lutho Sipamla, Junior Dala and uncapped Lutho Sipampla.
