Pakistan tour of South Africa, 2018-19 Pakistan vs South Africa, 1st Test
The South Africans would be welcoming Pakistan for 3 Tests, 5 ODIs and 3 T20Is series commencing from December 26 i.e. the Boxing Day. The tour will unfold by the three-match Test series followed by 5 ODIs and 3 T20Is.
Both Pakistan and South Africa will be clashing after a significant amount of time and with the current form of both teams on a serious high, the series would be pretty much intimidating.
Pakistan had played a 3-day practice match prior to this game and they managed to impress on a different surface and conditions as in sub-continent by defeating South Africa Invitational XI by 6 wickets. Azhar Ali and Babar Azam scored a ton in the first innings in a score of 306-7 dec whereas Mohammad Amir was the pick of the bowlers with match figures of 4 for 82.
A win in the practice game would have given them a lot of confidence going into the first Test and it would be interesting to see if Pakistan are good enough outside UAE as well.

Pakistan: In the batting department, Babar Azam, Azhar Ali and Fakhar Zaman will be the essential picks. All these batsmen are capable of setting the tone for Pakistan’s batting line-up. Among others, Imam-ul-Haq can be a fruitful option as well.
In the bowling department, the impetus would be on Mohammad Amir who had a great outing in the practice game. Hasan Ali will be a safe pick as well who did pretty well in the recently concluded Test series against Australia in UAE.
South Africa: Their batting relies heavily on their top 4. The likes of Aiden Markram, Dean Elgar, Faf du Plessis and Hashim Amla are still their most reliable batsmen.
In the bowling department, Dale Steyn and Kagiso Rabada would be the reliable ones. In the absence of Vernon Philander and Lungi Ngidi, they will be even more responsible to give their side good start in the bowling department.
