India Women tour of New Zealand 1st T20I | New Zealand Women vs India Women | NZ-W vs IN-W Who Will Win
After claiming the ODI series handsomely by 2-1, the Indian women team will now head into the shortest format of the game with their tails up and will look to throttle the hosts Whiteferns in the three-match T20I series as well.
The Indian women won the first match of the ODI series quite comprehensively by 9 wickets in Napier followed by yet another comfortable victory at the Bay Oval in Mount Maunganui by 8 wickets, both times it was the Indian opener Smriti Mandhana who made the difference by scoring a 105 in the first ODI followed by an unbeaten 90 in the second.
The Whiteferns went through a dismal show in the ODI series baring a consolating win in the third and final ODI at Seddon Park in Hamilton by 8 wickets. The win in the final game will work as a confidence booster heading into the T20I series and they will surely look to avenge the humiliation they got from the visitors.
This would be the first T20I outing for both setups after the Women World T20 2018 which took place in Windies where the Whiteferns had a miserable run as they were ousted in the group stage with only two wins to their name which came against Pakistan women by 54 runs and against Ireland women by 8 wickets.
India women had the upper hand over the Whiteferns in the Women World T20 2018 when they tamed them by 34 runs in a group stage match and also finished as the semi-finalist in the tournament.
