Vijay Hazare Trophy, 2018
Mumbai vs Hyderabad, 1st Semi-Final | MUM vs HYD WHO WILL WIN
After the quarter-final stage, the caravan of the 2018-19 Vijay Hazare Trophy moves on to the semi-finals with Mumbai, Hyderabad, Delhi and Jharkhand vying for the summit clash for the rights to be crowned the premier domestic ODI team of the country.
The first semi-final clash will take place between Mumbai and Hyderabad at the Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.
On expected grounds, Mumbai had an impeccable run in the league-stage with their batting might coming to the fore at different stages of the tournament.
While they had the likes of Prithwi Shaw, Ajinkya Rahane who fired on all cylinders at the early stage, in their absence, the likes of Herwadkar (192 runs at 64.00), Surya Kumar Yadav (237 runs at 59.25), Siddhesh Lad (102 runs at 51.00) and off-course their skipper in Shreyas Iyer (311 runs at 103.66) stood up to ensure Mumbai did not drop a game throughout the league-stage.

With the addition of Rohit Sharma in the quarter-final stage and a potent bowling line-up in Shams Mulani (15 wickets at 17.33) and Dhawal Kulkarni (14 wickets at 17.64), Mumbai displayed their might against Bihar as they bowled Keshav Kumar-led unit for a paltry 69 in 28.2 overs.
With the likes of Prithvi Shaw (287 runs at 95.66) and Ajinkya Rahane (230 runs at 115.00) set to join the ranks alongside Rohit Sharma, it will be more than an upset if Mumbai does not make it to the finals.
While Mumbai strolled their way past the group-stage, Hyderabad garnered momentum at the right moment after starting off slowly with a solitary win in the first four games.
Commanding victories over UP [9 wickets], Chattisgarh [101 runs], Kerela [7 wickets], Odisha [1 wicket] propelled the Ambati Rayudu-led unit into the quarter-finals against Jharkhand.
BS Sandeep (342 runs ar 68.40), as he has done throughout the tournament, was at the heart of Hyderabad’s win against Andhra as the Southpaw scored a sublime 97-ball-96 to lead his side to an eventual match-winning total of 8-281 in 50 overs.
Andhra’s reply started on a strong note with Hanuma Vihari (95) and Ricky Bhui (52) stitching a 112-run stand for the third wicket. Both Vihari and Bhui were snapped by Mohammad Siraj (3-50) triggering a collapse that resulted in Hyderabad restricting them 9-267 in 50 overs- 14 runs adrift of the target, to set up the semi-final clash with Mumbai.
