Indian Premier League, 2019 | Kings XI Punjab vs Mumbai Indians, 09th Match | KXIP vs MI Who Will Win
The first week of IPL 2019 will end with a doubleheader which will see Kings XI Punjab take on Mumbai Indians followed by a game in the Capital which will see Delhi Capitals taking on Kolkata Knight Riders.
Here, we will discuss about the first game of the day which will be played between Kings XI Punjab and Mumbai Indians at the IS Bindra Stadium in Mohali.
Kings XI Punjab
Having played two games away from, the Punjab franchise will now play their first home game of the season tomorrow against the three-time champions Mumbai Indians, a team which has had the better of Punjab in the past.
Punjab’s season started with a win over Rajasthan Royals which was also their first ever win in IPL history at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur. They then travelled to the Eden Gardens in Kolkata to face Kolkata Knight Riders where “Dre Russ” completely broke the shackles and tonked KXIP bowlers all around the park.
Now, with a win and loss to their name, Punjab is currently sitting at the fourth position with 2 points to their name. Their net run-rate however, is not a decent one which they would want to rectify in this game with a win under their belt.
Mumbai Indians
The tag of ‘Slow Starters’ definitely suits Mumbai Indians who once again lost their opening game of the season this time to Delhi Capitals in their home at Wankhede.
Although, they made a great comeback in their second game by pipping RC at the Chinnaswamy Stadium amidst a no-ball controversy on the final ball of the match. They maintained their supremacy over RCB at the Chinnaswamy as they have secured 8 wins over RCB at this very venue from 10 instances.
Now, with Mumbai Indians coming back into winning ways, it won’t be easy for KXIP to pip them even with conditions favoring them. If we go with the head-to-head record between the two sides, MI have won 12, while KXIP have got over them 10 times from 22 meetings.
Considered as one of the fastest tracks in India, Mohali generally gives a good going to the pacers with some variable bounce from the surface. The ball comes to the bat well and is good for the stroke makers.

KXIP vs MI Dream11 Teams
Players to watch out KXIP:
The Kings XI have relished the form of Chris Gayle who is smashing the ball quite well in the last two games. KL Rahul’s form is a bit of a concern though but only one innings is what he needs to come back into the mix.
Mayank Agarwal is fresh of a half-century from the last game, David Miller also got a half-century last time around.
The likes of Mohammad Shami, H Viljoen and Andrew Tye will be the bowlers to bet on for Punjab.
Players to watch out MI:
Yuvraj Singh’s form is a big plus for MI as he is the one responsible in the middle order to hold the batting unit together. Skipper Rohit Sharma struck a brilliant 47 in the last game and was smoking the ball quite nicely.
The Pandya brothers will again hold the key in both batting and bowling, whereas Quinton de Kock right at the top will be crucial for them.
Jasprit Bumrah’s consistency is what MI would be looking for and till now he as delivered outstandingly. Lasith Malinga and Mayank Markande are other safe bets in this facet.
