JOZ vs TST Dream11 Prediction

Mzansi Super League, 2018 | Jozi Stars vs Tshwane Spartans, Match 28 Preview | JOZ vs TST Who Will Win

The Big Picture

We are down to the business end of the tournament with four of the five remaining teams vying for a spot in the Playoffs. With Cape Town Blitz having already booked their place in the playoffs and Durban Heat out of the reckoning, it is a direct shootout between NMG, Tshwane Spartans, Paarl Rocks and Jozi Stars.

The 28th match will be played between Tshwane Spartans lock horns with the Jozi Stars at the New Wanderers Stadium in Johannesburg. The Spartans kept their hopes of making it to the Playoffs with a 28-run win over Durban Heat in the last encounter. Giahahn Cloete and Andrew Birch were the spearheads in Spartans winning that must-win game but they’ll know that they need to keep winning in a bid to keep their hope alive.

Their second last match is against second-placed Jozi Stars, The Stars, who will be without Chris Gayle, come into this game on the back of a six-wicket loss at the hands of Paarl Rocks after failing to defend 171, and will head into their last league stage match with an aim to seal the second spot and not depend on the results of other matches.

JOZ vs TST Dream11 Team

1] Openers

Reeza Hendricks has been in swashbuckling form throughout the season. With 359 runs at an average of 71.80 which includes two hundred and as many fifties. the 29-year-old has been the cornerstone of Jozi Stars resurgence after a slow start. With Chris Gayle, no longer available, Ryan Rickleton [200 runs at 28.57] will slot into the Jozi Stars line-up.

2] Middle-order

Reeza Hendricks, with a whirlwind 55-ball-83, spearheaded the Jozi Stars batting line-up. Dussen has been the bedrock of the Stars’ middle-order, with 314 runs in nine games at an average of 39.25. Leading the middle-order along with Dussen will be Dean Elgar. Elgar is the leading run-scorer for the Spartans with 195 runs at an average of 39.00. He looked good in the last game with a brisk 21-ball-31, an innings which included one four and three sixes.

Skipper AB de Villiers too showed a glimpse of his brilliance in the last game with a 26-ball-33. With the Spartans heading into another do-or-die fixture, the role of de Villiers becomes extremely crucial. He will wind up my middle-order.

Other Options- Eoin Morgan and Dan Vilas

Giahn Cloete [261 runs at 32.62] played a crucial part in Spartans’ winning the last game, scoring a 59-ball-65. He will take up the wicket-keeping duties and will also open the batting along with Reeza Hendricks.

Dan Vilas is also a good choice but since Cloete opens the batting, I’ll go with the latter in my Dream11 team.

Both sides boast of very handy all-rounders. While Jozi Stars have the likes of Dan Christian [144 runs at 20.57, 7 wickets at 27.00], Simon Harmer [10 wickets at 18.40] and Dwaine Pretorius [6 wickets at 24.16], Spartans boast of Jeevan Mendis [16 wickets at 15.06] and Roby Frynlinck. You can opt for either of them in your side.

Duanne Oliver [18 wickets at 12.62] continued with his good form in the last game, taking 3-30 in the last game against the Rocks while Andrew Birch [6 wickets, 2-29 ] and Shaun von Berg [6 wickets, 3-19] were the spearheads in Spartans winning the last game.

Going by current form, these three will spearhead my pace department while you at the same time you cannot ignore Rabada [11 wickets at 17.63] or Beauran Hendricks, who is expected to make a return to the side after being rested in the last two matches.

Captain Choice

Reeza Hendricks and Cloete, sorely because that they open the batting are my choices for captain. You can also go for all-rounders like Jeevan Mendis, Simon Harmer or Duanne Oliver.
