After tormenting the visitors in the first T20I with a record margin of 80 runs, the Blackcaps will march into the Eden Park in Auckland with only one thought in their mind and that is to take an unassailable lead in the series by 2-0.
The visitors though will look into their batting unit which plundered under pressure and reached nowhere near the target in the first game. The big guns like Rohit Sharma, Rishabh Pant, Dinesh Karthik, Hardik Pandya all failed miserably which meant that they were 80 runs short of the target.
Not only the batting unit but the bowling also did not click for India as all the bowlers were taken to the cleaners by the New Zealand batting unit led by Tim Siefert who got a blistering 84 off 43 deliveries which included 7 fours and 6 sixes.
India has to look for something different in both facets of the game to possess a defiant challenge to the hosts in the second T20I which will help them to stay alive in the series with the final match set to be played at the Seddon Park in Hamilton on February 10.
