The Indian youth brigade registered an enthralling 9 wickets victory over the visitors South Africa Under-19 to take the early honours in the two-Test series and now it is time for the second and final Test to take the centre stage which will be played at the Greenfield International Stadium in Thiruvananthapuram in Kerala.
India Under 19 were clinical with their gameplay right from the word go. They dismissed the visitors for a modest total of 197 courtesy Hrithik Shokeen’s 4 for 50 from 18.5, while Anshul Kamboj and Sabir Khan chipped in with 2 wickets each.
In reply to SA Under19s 197, Indian youths managed 330 runs on the board where opener Divyansh Saxena batted beautifully for his 122, while Suraj Ahuja got 57 runs to his name from 78 deliveries. The duo helped the hosts take a formidable first innings lead of 133 runs.
The visitors were even more drastic in their second innings as they were dismissed for 167. Hrithik Shokeen was once again among the wickets as he scalped 3 this time and got a good ally in the form of Manav Suthar who himself bagged 3.
India Under 19 needed only 37 runs in their second innings to win the game and they did it with ease in 7.5 overs and 9 wickets to spare.
