Asia Cup Qualifiers kick start with the host Malaysia locking horns with Hong Kong in the tournament opener scheduled at Kinara Academy Oval on Wednesday morning.  Six teams – United Arab Emirates, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Nepal, Singapore, and Oman will feature in the 16 matches tournament to get a ticket to Asia Cup 2018. The winner will qualify to play alongside India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Afghanistan for the Asia Cup 2018 which is scheduled to begin from September 15 in Dubai.

While the first match will witness the clash of hosts Malaysia with Hong Kong, the other two games will witness Nepal taking on Oman and the United Arab Emirates locking horns with Singapore at the same time.

Hong Kong and Malaysia have faced each other three times and each time Hong Kong has proved out to be the winner. Last time, both the teams locked horns in 2014 at Asian Cricket Council Premier League. Hong Kong clinched 2 wickets win over Malaysia and would be looking to repeat the same.
