Womens Big Bash, 2018 | Hobart Hurricanes Women vs Melbourne Stars Women, 6th Match Preview | HB-W vs MS-W Who Will Win
The Big Picture
As the caravan of the 2018 Womens Big Bash rolls on, Hobart Hurricanes will square off against Melbourne Stars as they aim for their maiden win of the tournament.
Hobart Hurricanes lost comprehensively to the Perth Scorchers after they failed to defend 7-143. The Hurricanes started well with the bat with Steffani Daffara [18] and Erin Fazackerley [38] put on a 47-run stand for the opening wicket before Georgia Redmayne scored a run-a-ball 49 [48] but Heather Graham’s 3-25 meant their lower middle-order could not capitalize on the good start and finished with what turned out to be a below par 7-143 after 20 overs.
The Hurricanes will have a tough job on their hands to notch up their maiden win against a Melbourne Stars unit, who pulled off a shock win over defending champions Sydney Sixers. It was not the result many would have predicted after Alyssa Healy [70] and Ellyse Perry [58] were pummelling the Stars with a 108-run opening stand.
But, Nicola Hancock’s 4-22 helped Melbourne run through the Sixers’ middle-order to restrict them to 7-165 in 20 overs. Chasing 166, Protea International Lizelle Lee put on a clinic as the wicket-keeper scored a whirlwind 56-ball-102 to help his side stroll past the target in 17.2 overs.
With a resounding win against tournament favourites- Sydney Sixers, the Stars will look to take the confidence against the Hurricanes and build on with the winning momentum.
