England has named a 12-member squad ahead of the game tomorrow. Moeen Ali and Chris Woakes have been given rest. Management has named James Vince, Mark Wood and Jack Leach in the 12 member squad with Leach set to make his debut. If England decides to go with an extra spinner, it is definitely Leach. Moreover, one among Wood and Vince will also get to play.
There’s one change in New Zealand. Todd Astle gets ruled out due to an injury and Ish Sodhi replaces him.
Dawid Malan, Alastair Cook, Mark Wood, Mark Stoneman, James Vince, Stuart Broad, Joe Root, Ben Stokes, Jonny Bairstow (wk), Craig Overton/Jack Leach, James Anderson
Ross Taylor, Jeet Raval, Tom Latham, Tim Southee, Kane Williamson (c), Ish Sodhi, Henry Nicholls, BJ Watling (wk), Colin de Grandhomme, Neil Wagner, Trent Boult
Black Caps pace attack was lethal in the first test match. They bundled out England to their sixth lowest score in test cricket- 58-10. Trent Boult, Tim Southee, and Neil Wagner will be the key bowlers for NZ while they will rely upon skipper Kane Williamson, Henry Nicholls and Ross Taylor for putting runs on the scoreboard. Williamson and Nicholls scored a century in the previous match.
England will mostly look to Mark Stoneman, Joe Root, A Cook and Ben Stokes for scoring runs. James Anderson, Stuart Broad, and Craig Overton will have to lead with the ball.
A good contest with bat and ball is expected to take place at Hagley Oval. The pitch is expected to provide a healthy bounce and pace. Spinners will have to face some difficulties if we consider the past few encounters.
