In the Saturday doubleheader, Cape Cobras will square off against Dolphins in the first game of the day while Knights and Highveld Lions will be playing in the evening in the 20th match of the competition.
The City Oval in Pietermaritzburg would be playing the host for this crucial encounter. With as many as 11 matches left before the eventual knockout stages.
This would be the second encounter between the two sides in this edition of Momentum One-Day Cup. Their previous battle took place on 22nd Feb at the Boland Park in Paarl. Let us have a brief insight into the last meeting between the two sides.
This was the 8th match of the competition where Dolphins emerged victorious by a margin of 22 runs. Batting first, Dolphins posted a formidable 276 on the board courtesy skipper Khaya Zondo’s 93 and all-rounder Andile Phehlukwayo’s 67.
The chase for Cape Cobras started on a positive note as the two openers Janneman and Pieter Malan started steadily and got a 43 runs partnership for the first wicket. Their middle phase was also good as wicket-keeper Kyle Verreyne and George Linder got scores of 52 and 63 respectively to their name. But, some tight bowling, especially from Andile Phehlukwayo who got 4 scalps to his name, did not let them score freely and eventually, they were bundled out for 254 in 49 overs.
