South Africa tour of Australia, 2018
Australia vs South Africa, 1st ODI
After a horrifying away tour against Pakistan, the Kangaroos return back to play their first home series against South Africa after almost eight months. South Africa is touring Australia to play 3 ODIs starting from Sunday followed with a solitary T20I to be played on November 17, Saturday.
When Australia toured South Africa in March earlier this year, the entire tour gained a lot of attention. And, all because of reasons which were way beyond the game. The tour that started with heated conversations and sledging went on to be remembered for ball tampering saga and shame culture issues.
Hoping for a much better series, both the teams will lock horns in the first ODI which is scheduled to be played at Perth on Sunday morning. The second ODI will be played at Adelaide Oval which will be followed with the last ODI to be played at Hobart.
Cricket Australia has named Aaron Finch as the limited overs captain, leaving Tim Paine to focus entirely on Test cricket. He will be assisted with the vice-captain duo – of Alex Carey and Josh Hazlewood. Carey made his ODI debut this year and will keep the gloves in the home series against South Africa.
South Africa has named a 15-man squad giving calls to Chris Morris and Farhaan Behardien. However, Proteas will miss the services of Hashim Amla and JP Duminy who have been omitted due to injuries. Chris Morris, who is returning after almost eight or nine months, was last seen in national squad in February against India.
Venue- Perth Stadium, Perth
Matchday- November 04, Sunday at 08:50 AM IST
