After conquering the Mighty blues in both the T20 international games and a five-match One Day International series, the Kangaroos hop on to against another subcontinent team to sharpen their cricketing skills before the most awaiting ICC Cricket World Cup 2019. The Aussies had a great start to the series against the Pakistanis as they went on winning the game by 8 wickets in Sharjah Cricket Association Stadium, Sharjah.
After winning the toss, the Pakistanis elected to bat first as they hoped to start off this five-match ODI campaign on a winning note in their home soil. However, all things seemed balanced when they came out to bat and a normal start from their openers gave them a start. Soon enough that start was converted into a solid foundation as Haris Sohail’s unbeaten 101 off 114 balls set the tone for the game. Valuable contributions from Umar Akmal of 48 runs off 50 balls and Imad Wasim’s 28 off 13 balls helped Pakistan to reach a standard score of 280 runs for the loss of 5 wickets in 50 Overs.
The Aussies came out to bat looking to chase down the competitive score minding the fierce bowling attack of their opponents. However, their skipper Aaron Finch had different ideas as he went slogging with a strike rate of 85.93 to score his ton of 116 off 135 balls. He was accompanied by Shaun Marsh who was also exceptional in his innings of 91 runs off 102 balls. The Pakistan bowling attack crumbled like a House of Cards as they gave out 20 extra runs and only managed to bag two wickets.
The game ended with Australia scoring 281 runs off 49 overs for the loss of two wickets.
