Australia finally induced some life in the 5 match series after securing a well deserving win in the 3rd ODI against India at JSCA Stadium in Jhansi. Now the two teams will march into the IS Bindra Stadium in Mohali for the next ODI.
There were many positives for Australia in the last game with the biggest one being the return in form of skipper Aaron Finch who shoved his bad phase with the bat with a magnificent 93 off 99 deliveries.
Both the Australian openers looked magnificent at the top. If Aaron Finch got 93 to his name, his opening partner Usman Khawaja notched up his maiden ODI ton and stitched a brilliant opening stand with his skipper of 193 runs.
Once the partnership was broken, India pulled back things and managed to restrict Australia to 313. It was a commendable effort from the Indian bowlers because, at one stage, the Australian juggernaut was looking to close their innings easily around 380.
The Indians were confident after the comeback their bowlers had in the final 10 overs of the first innings. Though things were drastically changed in the chase as the Indian openers find it tough to time the ball and build pressure on themselves.
Both the openers elt cheaply with only 15 runs on the board and 12 runs later Ambati Rayudu was undone by a beautiful seam-up delivery from Pat Cummins. The hosts were reeling at 27 for 3, that is when Skipper Virat Kohli and the hometown hero MS Dhoni snared a worthy 59 runs stand for the fourth wicket.
Virat Kohli had three different allies on the course of reaching his 41st ODI ton but none of them were able to take India over the finishing line and eventually lone effort from Virat Kohli go in vain and Australia clinched their first victory of the series.
