Batting first, the White Ferns’ got off to an abysmal start as Elysse Perry knocked over Suzie Bates for 3 to celebrate her homecoming. Sophie Devine (43) anf Katey Martin (56) were the only substantial contributors as the White Ferns’ posted 5-162 in 20 overs.

At 4-45, the Southern Stars’ looked in dire straits with their top order falling cheaply to Kasperek (2-28) anf Sophie Devine. But a record 119-run stand between skipper Lanning (56) and Rachael Haynes (69) took the home side to a sensational six-wicket win.
