Commonwealth bank Women’s T20 series, 2018

Australia Women vs New Zealand Women, 1st T20I

The much-awaited trans-Tasman Commonwealth Bank Women’s T20I series will finally get underway on Saturday as the Southern Stars’ lock horns with the White Ferns’ in what is expected to provide an ideal build-up to next month’s Women’s World Twenty20 in the Caribbean.

Venue:- North Sydney Oval, Sydney

Match Timing:- Saturday, September 29, 2018, 02:40 PM IST

The Southern Stars’ come into this series on the back of a six-month break since the end of a T20I tri-series win in India against arch-rivals England.

The White Fern’s have had the wood over Australia in the shortest format of the game. They’ve won their past three T20I series against the Southern Stars, including a 2-1 victory on Aussie soil back in 2017. But, they also come on the back of a T20I series loss at the hands of England back in June despite racking up huge totals in the series, most notably the world-record 1-216 against South Africa.

As for Meg Lanning, Southern Stars’ captain is set to play her first international game on home soil since early 2017 after recovering from shoulder injury and the all-rounder is confident that the youthful injection in the form of leg-spinner Georgia Wareham and pacer Tayla Vlaeminck gives his side a much-needed cutting edge.

The White Ferns’ too, usher in a new era under a new leadership with Suzie Bates passing on the mantle to Amy Satterthwaite two weeks ago.
