Womens Big Bash, 2018 | Adelaide Strikers Women vs Melbourne Stars Women, Match 26 Preview | AS-W vs MS-W Who Will Win

The Big Picture

As the caravan of the Womens Big Bash rolls on, the 26th match of the 2018 League will see an encore of the battle between Adelaide Strikers and Melbourne Stars where the former would be hoping to get one back on the Melbourne based franchise after losing the last game by four wickets.

Abysmal batting display by the Strikers’ middle-order was at the heart of their four-wicket loss yesterday with only Suzie Bates [46] and wicket-keeper Tegan McPharlin [41] registering a double-digit score. A quick-fire nine-ball-16 by Megan Schutt took the Strikers to 7-144 in 20 overs.

Stars’ skipper Erin Osborne had a perfect game. After snaring two wickets [2-16] with the bowl, the all-rounder spearheaded the run-chase with aplomb. After having been reduced to 5-99, Osborne, who stroked a 45-ball-54, stitched a valuable 40-run stand with Annabel Sutherland [13] to take her side past the finishing line.

With just a solitary win in six games, the Strikers needs to get their middle-order sorted if they are to address their fledgeling campaign. The Stars, on the other hand, are comfortably placed at the third spot and will hope to do an encore of Friday’s encounter on Sunday.

AS-W vs MS-W Playing 11:

Here’s how both teams’ might line-up:-

Adelaide Strikers Women

Batswomen – Suzie Bates, Bridget Patterson

Wicket-keeper – Tegan McPharlin

All-rounders – Sophie Devine, Tabatha Saville, Amanda-Jade Wellington, Tahlia McGrath

Bowlers – Danielle Hazell, Alex Price, Megan Schutt, Sarah Coyte

Melbourne Stars Women

Batters:- Mignon du Preez, Katie Mack, Angela Reakes

Wicket-Keeper:- Lizelle Lee

All-rounders:- Georgia Elwiss, Annabel Sutherland, Erine Osborne

Bowlers:- Alana King, Nicola Hancock, Holly Ferling, Nicole Faltim/Kristen Beams

AS-W vs MS-W Dream11 Team:

Batters + Wicket-Keeper

Sofie Devine waged an alone battle with a 36-ball-46 in the last game along with the Stars. Suzie Bates is also a prudent option at the top along with Lizelle Lee. I’ll go with Lee and Devine purely because Devine is an all-rounder and Lee can don the wicket-keeping gloves.

Adelaide Strikers middle-order is in disarray. Hence, picking more batters from Melbourne will be prudent. I’ll go with Erin Osborne [2-16 & 54] and Katie Mack to spearhead the middle-order.

Other Options:- Angela Reakes, T Saville

Along with Bates and Osborne, the likes of Elwiss and Sutherland are prudent choices for the all-rounder spot.

Alana King [2-24], Nicola Hancock [1-27], Danielle Hazell[2-27] and Meghan Schutt will lead the bowling department.

Captain/Vice-Captain Picks

Suzie Bates, Sophie Devine, Lizelle Lee,  Erin Osborne

Team 01 & 02
