After registering a thumping 157 runs win over South Africa A in the opening fixture, India A will now lock horns with Afghanistan A in the third fixture of Quadrangular One Day Series 2019 to keep their momentum going. Both the sides will lock horns at Greenfield International Stadium, Thiruvananthapuram tomorrow morning. While India A turned out victorious in their first encounter, Afghanistan faced 7 wickets drubbing at the hands of India B in their opening fixture.

India  A bowled out South Africa for a paltry 94

In the first match of the series, India A hosted South Africa A  at Greenfield International Stadium, Thiruvananthapuram on Tuesday. Having opted to bat first after winning the toss, the hosts posted 251-10 in the fifty overs, courtesy Qamran Iqbal (60 of 65) and Shashwat Rawat (64 of 55).  Finishing at 4-30, Marco Jansen was the pick of the bowler for South Africa.

Coming to chase, the visitors were bowled out for a paltry 94 in 35.4 overs, falling short of 157 runs. Barring skipper Matthew Montgomery (10 of 27) and Marco Jansen (33 of 57), nobody else managed to score in double-digits. Ravi Bishnoi (3-27) and Harsh Dubey (3-7) were the key bowlers from the home side.

Batting woes for Afghanistan

In the second fixture on Tuesday, Afghanistan U19 locked horns with India U-19 B at St Xavier’s College Ground, Thiruvananthapuram. Having opted to bat first, the visitors failed to take the advantage and were booked for mere 106-10 in 47.3 overs. Jamshid Khan (28) and wicketkeeper batter Ishaq Zazai (20) were the only two batters to touch 20 runs mark. Purnank Tyagi (4-36) and Prayas Barman (3-10) were the key bowlers for India U19 B.

In reply, the hosts chased down the target in 22.5 overs with 7 wickets in hand. Tilak Varma (44*) and skipper Rahul Chandrol (56*) were amongst the runs against the visitors.
