Big Bash League,2018 | Adelaide Strikers vs Brisbane Heat, Match 01 | ADS vs BRH Who Will Win
The Big Bash League is back with its eighth edition- this time bigger and better than the previous seasons with 59 games to be played over the course of the next two months. Summer, T20 Cricket and the festive season- it is a perfect amalgamation for an Aussie cricket fan across all fan groups. The 2018 edition is expected to be magnanimous as compared to other seasons with a plethora of International superstars like Buttler, Root, Nabi, Rashid Khan, Mujeeb Ur Rahman to grace the tournament.
The Big Bash has always been renowned for pushing the envelope- from zing bails to Umpire wearimg helmets; this season will see another innovation in the form of an alternative to conventional coin flip- the bat flip where the ‘heads or tails’ will be replaced by ‘hills or flats’.
The first game will see defending champions Adelaide Strikers square off against Brisbane Heat at the Gabba on Wednesday.
The Strikers will be without their regular skipper Travis Head, who is on International duty, but despite his absence, they have the likes of Colin Ingram, who has established himself as a T20 specialist across the globe, Afghan teenage sensation Rashid Khan, wicket-keeper batsman Alex Carey and proven T20 bowlers in Billy Stanlake, Peter Siddle and Jake Waetherland.
The Heat endured an abysmal campaign last year after having finished in the points table and will usher into a new era under the leadership of Chris Lynn, who takes over the reins from former Kiwi legend Brendon McCullum.
The Heats have a promising squad that has the capability to shrug off the blemishes of last year. The local talents in Max Byrant and Sam Heazlett, who performed exceedingly well in the JLT Cup and Mitch Swepson, Steketee will have a huge role to play while the mystery spin of 17-year-old Mujeeb Ur Rahman will add the much-needed X-Factor to their side.
Ben Cutting had a great season last year and has since then continued his form around various T20 leagues in 2018 and the likes of Joe Burns and Ross have the ability to turn it around in case the power hitters fail to deliver.

Brisbane Heat
Chris Lynn, Sam Heazlett, Max Byrant, Joe Burns, Brendan Doggett, Josh Lalor, Brendon McCullum, Mujeeb Ur Rahman, James Pattinson, Jimmy Pierson, Mark Steketee, Mitch Swepson, Ben Cutting
Here’s how both teams’ might line-up:-
Batsmen- Colin Ingram, Jake Lehmann, Jon Wells, Jake Weatherland
Wicket-Keeper- Alex Carey
All-rounder- Matthew Short, Michael Neser
Bowlers- Rashid Khan, Billy Stanlake, Ben Laughlin, Peter Siddle

Bowlers:- Mujeeb Ur Rahman, Mitch Swepson, James Pattinson, Mark Steketee [ Brendan Doggett, Josh Lalor]
Both sides boast some riveting hitters of a cricket ball. In Chris Lynn, McCullum, Max Byrant who had a stellar season for the Queensland Bulls in the recently concluded JLT Cup and Joe Burns [leading run-scorer for the Heat last year], Brisbane Heat have a formidable batting unit while the defending champions will bank on the likes of Colin Ingram, who was in great form in the recently concluded Mzansi Super League, Jake Weatherland [261 runs at 52.20 in the JLT Cup] and Jake Lehmann [259 runs at 51.20].
My Picks- Chris Lynn, Joe Burns, Jake Lehmann, Colin Ingram, Jake Weatherland
Other Options;- Brendon McCullum
Alex Carey, who smashed 443 runs in the last season, will don the wicket-keeping gloves for my Dream11 team.
Ben Cutting has been in great form throughout the year while playing in various franchise tournaments. He, along with Michael Nesser are safe bets for the all-rounder’s spot.
T20 sensation Rashid Khan and Mujeeb Ur Rahman will be the biggest traction this BBL. They, along with Billy Stanlake and James Pattinson will lead the bowling department.
Chris Lynn, Max Byrant, Rashid Khan, Mujeeb Ur Rahman, Ben Cutting, Colin Ingram, Brendon McCullum
