In another encounter which is expected to provide fans with an ‘edge-of-a-seat’ experience, Derbyshire Falcons will kickstart their Vitality Blast T20 campaign when they take on Lancashire Lightning on Friday night.
The Falcons have never made it into the finals of the T20 competition, having reached Quarter-Final stage just twice, and Gary Wilson’s unit would be hoping for an improved performance this time around, having assembled an impressive squad. Derbyshire will have the services of 29-year-old tearaway batsman Calum McLeod. McLeod smashed an unbeaten 94-ball-140 against England last month, and the Falcons would be hoping he carried his form into the Vitality Blast. While McLeod will bolster their batting, the bowling will be spearheaded by Pakistani left-arm paceman in Wahab Riaz. Riaz is an experienced campaigner, having accumulated 197 wickets at an average of 21.
The Falcons will face Lancashire Lightning who played their first game against Worcestershire Rapids. The 2015 champions will be led by Liam Livingstone, and are boasted with the return of James Faulkner, Joe Meanie, and Matt Parkinson in their squad.
