The state police of Gujarat busted a gambling racket in Vadodara, Gujarat. In the bust, the police took into custody the eight miscreants involved and one of them was the notorious gangster Aslam Bodiyo. Aslam Bodiyo is a notorious criminal who has been arrested several times in the past for being accused in 51 cases including loot, assault, murder, liquor ferrying.
The miscreants were detained by police in a gambling raid at Dudhwala Mohalla in Wadi in the wee hours of Saturday. The police said that they had received an anonymous tip-off about some people indulging in gambling activities in Dudhwala, Mohalla area. When the cops raided the place, they found eight persons seated on the footpath involved in gambling. A police official said that they were sitting behind two auto rickshaws so that nobody could see them. According to police, Hafeez alias Appu Dudhwala, one of the arrested accused had called the other seven over there for gambling. Police sources said that when they interrogated Bodiyo, he told them that others who were detained were his guests and he often used to come there during the wee hours to gamble with his friends.
Bodiyo, who is known to run the notorious ‘Bichchu Gang,’ has often been involved in gambling and similar bootlegging activities. Besides that, he has been accused of murder, loot, extortion and kidnapping. He has also been detained under Prevention of Anti-Social Activities Act (PASA) several times. He entered the world of crime about 15 years ago by committing burglaries and then took to extorting money from traders and bootlegging.
