Recently another gambling den is raided by Mhow police, and they busted a betting racket, arresting three persons. The raid in Luniyapura area of Mhow town on Saturday night helped the police to seize betting slips, INR 23510 cash and other related things were seized from their possession.
Earlier 24 people were put behind bars for allegedly running gambling rackets in Jhobra Colony near Mhow-Indore road by the police forces of Indore, Madhya Pradesh. The police even busted INR 100,000 from their possession during that raid.
Based on an anonymous tip-off that a cricket betting racket is being operated in a house in Luniyapura on the Maharashtra Samaj road, a task force is set up and ordered to go to the spot and raid every corner of the building, said the state police.
The gambling den was organized in the house of an old bookie Umesh Agrawal, and when the task force raided the house at night, the accused was found involved in the illegal activity. The three detained were operating on five mobile phones with a recording facility to note the details of bets, say the bets for or against and how much.
The task force also captured a large number of slips made on plain paper, two A4 paper sheets, a few pens and five mobile devices of Intex Company also were recovered from their possession. The Task Force police arrested Bakhal and Alok Agrawal of Dhamnod and Umesh.
A case under the section of Public Gambling Act of 1867 was registered against all the miscreants found involved. The police are planning to take some serious actions against Umesh, 55. He has been a notorious betting racket operator and is involved in the gambling sector for more than 20 years. More than a dozen cases have been registered against him for various offenses.
