3 Ways to deal with a bad hand in Rummy

By Shalini Singh @Shalini_Singh15

deal with a bad side; luck cannot be favourable all the time after all.

In Rummy, smart moves can help you win against your opponent even if you have a terrible hand.

Usually, dropping the game is the best strategy to adopt, if you think your cards are weak. It is a good move because you will get only the minimum points and you could always excel in the next round.

So, we are going to discuss the strategies that might help you win the game if you are thinking of taking the game forward with a weak hand.

Master the art of Bluffing:

Bluffing means, misguiding your opponents and making them believe that you have the best hand, even when you don’t. In such situation, your opponent would think that you are about to finish the game. You might try tricking your opponent by picking a card from your open deck, do this consecutively two to three times, and your opponent would most likely drop the game fearing you would declare the set. There is no specific rule of bluffing, but bluffing might often get you excellent results.

Try to Analyse your opponent:

To know the direction you want to proceed in, you must try to analyze your opponent. Observe his moves closely. You can do this by analyzing their pattern of picking up and discarding cards.

If you notice that your opponent depends a lot on the closed deck and he is picking some random cards, then you can conclude that he does not possess a good hand.

Discard the low-value cards:

If you are regularly picking cards from the open deck, make sure that you discard low-value cards. This way you will end up building curiosity within your opponent and would be forced to fold his hand.

Notably, these strategies work best when you are playing with a single, and he has a weak hand.

In the end, it is all about the way you play.

So, play smart and keep winning!
